I tried it but couldn't get through it. Anyway, I don't use that at home. The books are just a breath away from me in the library, I check them out and read during lunch break.
For our customers who can't come to the library for whatever reasons, this is very helpful to them. It's a good library resource that everybody can take advantage of.

Podcasting
Podcasting...another aspect of Library 2.0 that has emerged since the past few years. Information dissemination breakthrough through the net. I pretty well know how it goes but naive on how to start from scratch (i mean creating one myself). Thanks for the tutorials online. For one thing, I don't have an iPod nor MP3 player. Poor me. I'll try to educate myself more on this and hopefully experiment on podcasting when I get my own MP3/iPod.
I learned that podcasting has been very popular way back in 2005.It is described as a simple way of sharing audio content over the web through syndication. In my readings, I found out that several libraries worldwide have utilized this tool simply for the purpose of making library information accessible to patrons. This sounds good and glorious.
For sure, countless patrons have benefitted this technology especially those who are not blessed with the gift of good eyesight. Without the Ipod nor MP3,one can use the internet to access information. This idea is so wise.
On the part of the library, it entails budget, time and effort. Some staff should be designated to do the task of podcasting over and above their regular functions.

the wonders of YOUTUBE
Most of the things that I look up in youtube website are useful procedures. A sort of tutorial to create some projects. I also browse the site for funny videos and videos for kids.
I am sharing this superb video with all of you guys. I consider this very interesting and awesome, educational and worth watching. web 2.0 awards
Whew! It's overwhelming to know about these stuff.
I tried the following categories: Education, Fun stuff, Music, Photos and Digital Images as well as the Social Networking Mainstays.
The .docstoc is a new discovery for me. I guess this is helpful to us especially in reference.
The hairmixer is cool. I tried it but wasn't able to tinker my own photo. I'll try it tonight at home with my own PC.
"Have you ever wondered what you'd look like with someone else's hairstyle? Wonder no more: match your face with one of HairMixer's pictures or upload pictures of your own."
Flickr tops the photos and digital images category. The good thing about this application is its capability to handle high-quality images. I'll try picnik for photo enhancements.
Friendster is honorable mention for social networking mainstays category together with myspace. I have my friendster account which serves as my communication tool with my friends and family back home in our beautiful country...

wow! Zoho
Zoho ... a set of online web applications....wow!
I find Zoho very interesting to explore. Most of its applications are easy to learn since we have been using them - the desktop based. If not for this training I wouldn't have known about this. I'll definitely use this. I use spreadsheets, wordprocessing and presentations most of the time and Zoho will be of great help. I can create and save my documents without sending them to my email to be sure if case my flash disk will fail. Good idea.

wikis
The purpose of wikis is collaboration and communication. It's like a one-stop shop wherein one can leave some important information for others to get and vice versa. People of similar interest and passion have a place to stop by and share thoughts, facts and ideas that becomes accessible to everybody.

Libraries will never be the same again.
No matter how fast technology affects our libraries, I can't foresee a complete tool that will replace our "librarians". They are extraordinary individuals that make the access of information easy and more simplified. Keeping up with the fast paced technological advancements is not everybody's "cup of tea" so to speak.

Just added few books to my collection. I am into biographies and memoirs just like in NEXTREADS.
LibraryThing is very interesting. You get a clue about how popular the book you have in your collection. It's amazing to know that one of my fave books has more than a thousand readers. Reviews are also of big help.

Still learning to add feeds to my bloglines. I have added a couple of them then. It's worth to know that we can put all our favorites in one compact page without having to go to each site manually. Playing around these environments is the best thing to do. As you go along you discover new amazing things...

I like the comicstrip generator especially that I got this special picture of Pierce Brosnan. Last week, I watched the movie MAMA MIA! It is a very good movie - musical and comedy combined. It sounds like unsusual for this action star to lead a different role. I'm used to watching him in suspense and super action roles....

catch up
I'm trying to catch up with all the exercises I missed when I was away. I was in California with my family for my husband's exam and at the same time for a vacation since July 14 and came back yesterday. It's good that we don't have specific activity for this week to give us more time to explore and make up.

How do you view life today without "internet"?
This is a common question that we normally get from people we encounter everyday. Even in our respective homes, it is inevitable to discuss the subject with our spouse and even little kids. We are bombarded with what if's, how's and why's queries. Certainly, it would be very difficult for us to access information freely and readily.
I can remember well when the internet was first launched in the Philippines. That was in 1994 and it was held in my school, the university I went to. It was a grand event that gathered several IT educators around the country to take part in the so-called Information Technology "breakthrough". It might be late for us to partake in it since internet was actually conceived in 1969 here in the US Department of Defense, yet we were privileged to be informed about its power.
Internet has become the new venue for people to share their thoughts and ideas. The flow of information has become boundless. No matter what we do, at least we cling to the internet as a tool. It has become a useful means to help us find answers to some out-of-this-world questions from our children, colleagues and patrons. To look up some word meanings, facts and figures about something, check our emails, chat with our loved ones across the globe, are just a few of the daily routines that we rely on to the "internet". Our lives have changed drastically by these vast technology developments. It is just imperative to use them with utmost care and caution.
As parents it is our prime duty to educate our children on the proper use of this technology. Set limits and restrictions...

7. 5 habits
Just want to reiterate that the easiest for me in #3 (View problems as challenges) huh!. For most of us it is the most difficult one. It may sound weird though. My outlook in life has been changed by the challenges I've been through. I am a positive person and always look at the bright side of life. In one way or another, those problems had molded me into a strong and determined individual.
It may sound ironic if I say that the most difficult for me at this time is # 7.5 (Play). Initially I thought it #4. But as I reflected on these habits deeply, I realized that playing is somewhat hard for me. I say "these days". Looking forward to make it the easiest one.

hard start
Had it not been for this Web 2.0 class, I wouldn't have done this :) I don't feel I have the luxury of time to do it. It's very difficult to start. Moreover, not sure if I know how to write blogs. But I love reading them. They truly put some smile on my face most often, especially when I get bored. Now that I have started, I hope I can spend extra time to blog...No matter how busy I may seem to be, I will make sure to put something here.
It's good that we are given an hour per week to do this. Definitely, everybody is having fun exploring this technology. Way to go!
